FATIGUE STUDY
PARTICIPANT INFORMATION

..and rate your fatigue...
...during 15 days
What is it about ?
The Welbees Independent Fatigue study (which began on 25 February) is a scientific assessment of the presence of crew fatigue in Binter within the context of its airline operations.
In this context, subjective data are collected through the Welbees web-application. The results will help understand how crew’ working conditions affect their fatigue and sleep.
What is your role in this?
Create your account with your Binter e-mail address and register your data for 15 consecutive days – this is important to capture the cumulative aspect of fatigue to improve your individual fatigue management.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The objective of a fatigue study is to understand the impact of your professional activity on your sleep and your fatigue levels. This involves collecting sleep and fatigue data using a web application.
The Welbees Fatigue Study is a research project on the impact analysis, prevention, and management
of crew fatigue. The study is conducted in a scientific and objective manner, supported by
data collection and various research methods. Its objectives are threefold:
– Gathering flight and cabin crew member feedback to identify the various causes of fatigue;
– Collecting objective data to build a fatigue prediction model specific to Binter operations;
– Improved consideration of fatigue in the construction of schedules.
The study and its results involve regulations regarding Binter and their crews, which contribute to
fatigue mitigations to maintain safety standards.
Fatigue risk management relies on an accurate understanding of the factors contributing to fatigue. Your participation is essential to obtain a representative sample. The results of the study will help us understand how your working conditions affect your fatigue and sleep.
The Welbees App is a web–application allowing you to take part in a fatigue study by recording you daily activities and assessing your fatigue levels during these activities.
The following data will be collected:
– Information about your working activity (flight, commute, positioning, etc.),
– Information about your sleep (main sleep and nap),
– Evaluation of your fatigue levels.
Participating in the study will only take up a few minutes each day. You are expected to add activities and sleep periods, fill out the questionnaire for each event and submit your answers to see them appear in the activity log of the application. For more details, consult our user guide.
Individuals react differently to being exposed to fatigue. Profile information allows to determine if individual variables play a part in fatigue and how much they contribute.
This information is never shared with your employer, nor do we make recommendations based on individual characteristics. Profile information is only used to enhance the data collected by accounting for individual characteristics.
The data needs to be logged daily during a period of minimum 15 consecutive days, including rest days. It is important to complete the app every day to allow meaningful analysis of the cumulative fatigue that builds up over consecutive days.
Once the data has been collected, we conduct statistical analyses using statistical modelling to determine which factors contribute to fatigue risk, and to what extent. This is only done on aggregated (not individual) data to protect our participants’ confidentiality.
Welbees protects your data and guarantees that all your information will be subject to strict confidentiality. The gathered data from the profile questionnaire, through the mobile application and actigraphs will remain confidential and will be processed and analysed anonymously (de-identified), since the identification of the person is irrelevant to the needs and objectives of the research project. The monitoring of connections and verification of the origin of the data collected is ensured through a technical identifier. The application transfers personal data via a random technical ID for each User. No individual data will be shared with your organization or outside the research team. We analyse data at the organisational level, considering data from all participants. Please read our Privacy Policy for further information: https://www.welbees.com/privacy-policy
Welbees fully complies with the European General Data Protection Regulation and uses secured data transfer protocols to collect sleep and fatigue data. Please read our Privacy Policy for further information: Welbees Privacy Policy
